#Airtel Nigeria Surges Ahead: Dominates Telecom Market with 29% Growth Amidst Industry Challenges

Airtel Nigeria has emerged as a dominant force in Nigeria’s telecommunications sector, according to recent data released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). The telecom giant has made significant strides in market share, solidifying its position as a leader in the region.

As of March 2024, Airtel Nigeria’s market share has surged to an impressive 29% over the past year, outshining its competitors. In contrast, other major players like MTN and 9mobile have experienced declines, with MTN witnessing a 3.19% drop and 9mobile facing a 0.5% decrease. Even Glo, another key player, saw a slight decrease of 0.58% in its share of internet subscribers.

Airtel Nigeria’s success extends beyond market share gains. The company has witnessed a remarkable 165% increase in its share of internet subscribers, attributed in part to the launch of Airtel 5G, rolled out in June 2023. This growth underscores Airtel’s ongoing efforts to expand its customer base nationwide.
