Group Appeals to Gov Makinde To Endorse Amidu Mustapha as Oyo NURTW Chairman

A group has appealed to the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde and other critical stakeholders in the transport sector to support Comrade Amidu Mustapha aka sir Were as the next Chairman of Oyo state chapter of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

The convener of the group, known as ”Itesiwaju Omo Oyo” Owoseni Gafaru Oyedele on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 described Amidu Mustapha as a perfect gentleman who could work for the peace and progress of the state as well as the transport union.

“At this point, it is visible to all discerning minds that what Oyo State needs is someone who is highly experienced in union matters, a bridge builder, someone without scandals or criminal records, networker, a manager per excellence and one who has the capacity to leverage on the gains and successes the government of Oyo State have recorded in the transport sector under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.

“Comrade Mustapha is one of the few with experience and core competency who can creditably manage the affairs of Oyo State NURTW in line with Mr Governor’s excellent road map in governance particularly in this second leg of his regime.

“Ultimately, the selection of NURTW leadership should be based on merit and democratic principles. To God be the glory, Mustapha Amidu remains the best man for the top job based on the principles of fairness, legitimacy, equity and cognate experience and competence.

“Your Excellency sir, we shall never disappoint you, we are one big family at the NURTW, and that is why our worth has never been underestimated by your esteemed leadership. The union shall continue to be up and doing to see that our rights as commercial drivers are being protected and our socioeconomic status well managed, in tandem with laid down rules ” Owoseni said.

Owoseni also congratulated the Governor on his second term inauguration as the Governor of Oyo State.

“I am also using this occasion to felicitate with our amiable and performing Governor on his second term inauguration of four years as Governor of Oyo State, joy fills my heart that in another four years, Governor Seyi Makinde would perform excellently and transform Oyo State to London in terms of socio-economic development.

“We can all attest to it that in his first term he performed too, and they say a good term deserves another. We thank God, the people of Oyo gave him another term of four years. Congratulations sir, our leader and mentor.” he said.
