EPL: Agbonlahor gives reason Arsenal midfielder is leaving Emirates
Former Premier League star Gabby Agbonlahor has said that he was shocked to hear rumours of Granit Xhaka’s departure from Arsenal.
He also explained why Smith Rowe should leave the Emirates Stadium.
Xhaka has recorded five goals and seven assists in 35 Premier League appearances this season but despite his impressive performances this term, he is widely speculated to be on his way out of the club.
German side Bayer Leverkusen are all but set to get his deal done in June after personal terms are said to have been agreed on a contract valid until 2027.
Arsenal are targeting West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice as a replacement for the Swiss.
The 30-year-old’s contract is set to expire next year and there are no negotiations taking place for an extension.
Agbonlahor told talkSPORT, “When I heard the news about Xhaka, I was a bit shocked, to be honest.
“But then I see he’s got a year left. [He’s] 30,31 [years old] in September. You could see why they’re looking to get a bit of money for him.”
