EPL: Hargreaves blames Nigerian star for Southampton relegation
Former Manchester United and Bayern Munich midfielder, Owen Hargreaves has slammed Super Eagles striker, Paul Onuachu after Southampton were relegated from the Premier League on Saturday.
The Saints return to the Championship after 11 years following their 2-0 defeat to Fulham at St. Mary’s Stadium.
Southampton have been in the bottom three since November and had to add attacking options such as Onuachu in January to help them stay up.
Onuachu could not even find the back of the net for once despite scoring goals for fun in Belgium where he was signed from.
Hargreaves said that the transfer of the Nigeria international to Southampton has not worked out as planned.
“When you think about Sulemana he didn’t do anything. Onuachu did not do anything. It was a nice idea but it didn’t work out for them.”
