EPL: Everybody is laughing at him – Gallas slams Man United star

Former Arsenal and Chelsea star, William Gallas has said that Harry Maguire will never succeed at Manchester United.

He further blasted England manager, Gareth Southgate for including the 29-year-old in the World Cup squad.

Despite losing his place in Manchester United’s starting XI, Maguire was named in England’s 26-man squad.

Gallas wondered why Maguire should be in the squad instead of AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori.

“Manchester United have given so many chances, but he doesn’t have the quality,” Gallas told Genting Casino.

“Everybody is laughing at him when he plays; why has Gareth Southgate picked him?

“Maguire has been poor. If he isn’t playing well, why is he being called up for a big competition like the World Cup?”

Maguire was a member of the Sheffield United youth team and graduated to the senior team in 2011, making 186 appearances.

He won their Player of the Year three consecutive times and also featured in the PFA Team of the Year for League One as many times.

Maguire joined Hull Cuty In 2014 for £2.5 million and was loaned to Wigan Athletic in 2015.

The England international later joined Leicester City in 2017 for an initial fee of £12 million, and two years later, he joined the Red Devils United for a fee of around £80 million, being a world-record amount for a defender.
