Alleged certificates forgery: Akwa Ibom PDP guber candidate, Pastor Eno closes defense

Akwa Ibom State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Pastor Umo Eno has closed his defense at the Federal High Court in Uyo, in the case of WAEC certificate forgery allegation against him by a PDP governorship aspirant, Mr. Akan Okon.

This came following the cross examination of Pastor Eno’s last defense witness, CSP Chris Endeley by the plaintiff’s counsel, Okey Amaechi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

CSP Endeley is a Police Officer attached to Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department of the State Police Command, where Pastor Eno, had petitioned the Police, asking for investigation into the purported letter from West African Examinations Council, which alleged that his certificates were forged.

The Police witness said on 29th July, 2022, he travelled to WAEC Zonal Office in Ogba, Ikeja in Lagos, where he met the WAEC Zonal Coordinator and received a letter confirming Pastor Umo Eno’s WAEC certificates and disowning a group, Association for Advancement of Democracy in Nigeria, to which the purported letter was addressed.

Counsel to the plaintiff, Okey Amaechi, who cross examined the defense witness, noted some discrepancies in the dates of the receipt of the letter.

The Defense Counsel, Paul Usoro, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria said the plaintiff failed in his case to call WAEC and Association for Advancement of Democracy of Nigeria as witnesses.

The Court, presided over by Justice Agatha Okeke, has adjourned the case to Friday, 14th October, 2022, for adoption of final written addresses.
