#COVID-19: #Eswatini’s #Prime #Minister, Ambrose #Dlamini Dies in #SouthAfrica. Death of Ambrose Dlamini marks the first world leader to die of coronavirus and from reports reaching us He fought a good battle against the disease for four weeks.

The Eswatini Prime Minister, Ambrose Dlamini, tested positive for Covid-19 a month ago.

Ambrose Dlamini aged 52, had been hospitalised in neighbouring South Africa, the monarchy’s government confirmed late on Sunday.

“The Royal Majesties had commanded that I Deputy Prime Minister Themba Masuku to inform the Nation of the sad and untimely passing away of His Excellency the Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini,” he revealed.

Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini was a Swazi business executive who served as the tenth Prime Minister of Eswatini from October 2018 until his death in December 2020. Prior to his appointment, he worked in the banking and telecommunications sectors, including as managing director of Nedbank and as CEO of MTN Eswatini. Dlamini was Born on  5th of  March 1968, and lost the battle to Coronavirus on Sunday 13th  December, 2020.

“His Excellency passed on this afternoon while under medical care in a hospital in South Africa.”

Mr Dlamini was moved to South Africa on Dec.1, to “guide and  fast track his recovery,” from coronavirus. At that time, Masuku said Dlamini was stable and responding well to treatment.

He was appointed prime minister in November 2018, following his position as the chief executive officer of MTN Eswatini, or commonly known as Swaziland.
