Football London’s Alan Smith has admitted there could be a bidding war between Chelsea and Liverpool for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
Werner has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a while now and it looks like Liverpool and Chelsea could be leading the race for the red-hot striker.
“In terms of Werner, a lot of the chat before the (coronavirus) pandemic when he became such a massive deal was focussed on him being linked with Liverpool,” Smith said.
“I don’t think anyone at Chelsea would have made a secret that they were quite interested in January but Liverpool, for any player, is one of the ultimate destinations as well.
“It could be a case of that you’re likely to see a bidding war of some sort and it’s whatever club is willing to spend the biggest amount of money.”
